The oil of Oenothera Biennis is mainly composed of essential fatty acids of the Omega-6 series, in particular gamma linolenic (GLA) and linoleic (up to 70%), oleic, palmitic and stearic. This unique composition makes the oil quite useful for those subjected to atopic dermatitis in which the reduced activity of the delta 6 desaturase enzyme creates an insufficient conversion of linoleic acid into gamma linolenic acid.
This oil is used in the cosmetic field for its soothing, moisturizing and decongestant properties, therefore in formulations of products for atopic dermatitis, very dry skin, xerotic and eczema, anti-aging and baby skin care.
